Difference between ZLT, ZLK, and EEZ ~ Insurance Academy
If you study marine cargo and marine hull insurance, you may encounter the terms Territorial Sea Zone (ZLT), Continental Shelf Zone (ZLK), and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). What’s the difference between the three?
Excerpted from Indonesiaberita.com, here are the three differences:
Territorial Sea Zone (ZLT)
The Territorial Sea Zone is a zone bounded by an imaginary line that is 12 miles from the baseline to the high seas. If the width of the oceans limiting two countries is less than 24 miles, then the territorial line is drawn equidistant from each country.

In this zone, the state has full sovereign rights, but provides a cross-peaceful shipping lane both above and below the sea.
The territorial sea of Indonesia was announced by the government on December 13, 1957, known as the Djuanda Declaration and strengthened by Law Number 4 of 1960.
Continental Shelf Zone (ZLK)
Continental Shelf Zone, is a seabed that is geologically and morphologically a continuation of a continent (continent) with a sea depth of 150 meters. Indonesia is located between the continental shelves of Asia and Australia.

In this zone, the government has the authority to utilize existing natural resources (SDA) and the obligation to provide peaceful cross shipping lanes. The continental shelf boundary was announced by the Indonesian government on 17 February 1969.
Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ)
The EEZ area is calculated from the seabed line straight towards the high seas as far as 200 nautical miles. In this zone, the state can utilize marine resources for the welfare of the nation.
