Tri Pakarta Insurance Announces Sharia Unit Spin Off ~ Akademi Asuransi

PT Asuransi Tri Pakarta announced a plan to spin off the insurance sharia business unit (UUS) by establishing a sharia insurance company.

In addition to meeting the growing needs of the Indonesian people for insurance protection against potential financial losses, Tri Pakarta Insurance management wants to continue to play a role as one of the main contributors in encouraging the development of the sharia ecosystem and sharia economic growth in general in Indonesia.

“In connection with this commitment, PT Asuransi Tri Pakarta plans to expand its business through the separation of the sharia business unit into a legal entity, namely PT Asuransi Tri Pakarta Syariah,” the management wrote in an announcement published on Monday (25/7/2022).

PT Asuransi Tri Pakarta, which is under the BNI Bank Pension Fund, will focus on its function as a conventional general insurance company, while PT Asuransi Tri Pakarta Syariah will focus on general insurance based on sharia principles.

“The management of PT Asuransi Tri Pakarta and PT Asuransi Tri Pakarta Syariah will focus more on their respective business activities, including marketing insurance products, launching new products, implementing collaborations with company strategic partners, and developing technology and information for convenience and satisfaction. customers, so as to improve the ability of each company in serving customers,” said management.

The establishment of PT Asuransi Tri Pakarta Syariah will be followed by the transfer of the entire sharia membership portfolio to the new subsidiary.

The portfolio transfer will be carried out after obtaining approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). PT Asuransi Tri Pakarta and PT Asuransi Tri Pakarta Syariah will strive to ensure a smooth transition period, as well as ensure the quality of the company’s operations and services continue to run well.

“The company will also ensure that this process will not have an impact on policyholders. The rights and obligations of policyholders will remain the same,” said management.

This spin off plan is the company’s effort to comply with the provisions of Law Number 40 of 2014 concerning Insurance and OJK Regulation Number 67/POJK.05/2016 concerning Business Licensing and Institutional Insurance of Insurance Companies, Sharia Insurance Companies, Reinsurance Companies, and Sharia Reinsurance Companies.
